Emily Grace Jones was a seven-year-old girl from Bolton whose life was tragically taken on Mother’s Day, 22 March 2020.
A bright, happy and much-loved child, Emily was known for her infectious smile, kind nature and boundless energy. She adored spending time with her family and friends and had her whole future ahead of her.
Her death devastated her parents, relatives, classmates and the wider community, all of whom remembered her as a joyful little girl who brought happiness wherever she went.
Emily was riding her scooter in Queen’s Park, Bolton, with her family when she was subjected to a sudden and unprovoked attack and fatally stabbed by Eltiona Skana, an Albanian woman who was later detained indefinitely in a secure psychiatric hospital.
The loss of Emily touched people across the country and prompted an outpouring of grief from those moved by the senseless nature of her death. She remains a symbol of an innocent childhood cut tragically short and is remembered with enduring love by all who knew her.
Rest in peace Emily. You will not be forgotten.
