Gemma Dorman

Gemma Dorman, a 24-year-old woman originally from Wandsworth, was murdered in a brutal frenzied knife attack on 23 July 2008 in Battersea, south London. It happened as she stepped out from a Thai restaurant where she had been dining with her fiancé.

Her obsessive ex-boyfriend, Vikramgit Singh, a Sikh illegal immigrant from India living in Southall, ambushed her at a bus stop and stabbed her repeatedly with a large kitchen knife. Singh had become dangerously infatuated after their brief relationship ended, bombarding her with hundreds of harassing texts, stalking her, sending obsessive love letters and even getting a large heart-shaped tattoo with her name on his back.

Gemma had reported him to police two months earlier for stalking, but he was not effectively stopped. Convicted of murder in March 2010, Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years.
