Russell Jones was a 23-year-old business student from Enfield who was a popular young man studying at the University of Hertfordshire.
He was shot and stabbed to death in an unprovoked mistaken-identity attack while standing chatting with friends outside a shop on South Street in Enfield on 17 March 2018.
A group of four masked men from the local area — Kyle Gordon, Bilkan Bilkaner, Duke Quainoo and Sherome Williams — set upon him without warning, shooting him in the abdomen with a 12-bore shotgun and stabbing him a dozen times.
He died at the scene. All four men were later convicted of his murder at the Old Bailey and sentenced to lengthy prison terms.
He continues to be remembered as a much-loved young man taken long before his time, whose loss is felt deeply by all who knew him.
Rest in peace Russell. You will not be forgotten.
