Amie Gray
1989 – 2024
Bournemouth, Dorset
Perpetrator
Amie Gray, a 34-year-old wife, mother, sports coach and personal trainer whose life was tragically taken on 24 May 2024. Remembered as a warm, caring and selfless woman, Amie touched the lives of countless people through her work, her friendships and her devotion to her family.
Amie was sitting with her friend Leanne Miles on Durley Chine Beach in Bournemouth when they were subjected to a completely random and unprovoked knife attack.
During the assault, Amie courageously intervened to protect her friend, helping to distract the attacker and allowing Leanne an opportunity to escape. Amie suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene from her injuries.
Her killer, Nasen Saadi, a 21-year-old criminology student of Thai heritage, had travelled to Bournemouth from Croydon specifically to carry out her murder.
Evidence presented at trial showed that he had carefully planned the attack, researched violent crimes and selected his victims at random. He was convicted of murder and attempted murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 39 years.
Rest in peace Amie. You will not be forgotten.
