Andrew Holland, a 16-year-old boy from Trentham Gardens, Farnworth, Bolton, Greater Manchester, was murdered on 17 August 2007 outside Ashy’s takeaway in Plodder Lane.
He and a friend became involved in an argument with a group of teenagers; Mahmud Maksoudian, then 22 (an Iranian national from Madams Wood Road, Little Hulton, Salford), attacked them with a knife.
Andrew was stabbed once in the neck (the wound also punctured his chest) and collapsed bleeding outside the shop.
He was taken to hospital but died later. Maksoudian casually went back into the takeaway for a tissue for his cut finger and asked about his food order before being arrested at the scene.
He was convicted of murder at Manchester Crown Court in February 2008 and jailed for life with a minimum term of 19 years. He was also convicted of wounding with intent on the other boy.
Andrew had hoped to join the army and was described by his devastated family as a much-loved son whose future was cruelly taken.
Rest in peace Andrew. You will not be forgotten.
