Kally Gilligan

Kally Gilligan, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Salford, Greater Manchester, was shot dead on 10 June 2006 by her 18-year-old ex-boyfriend, Joshua Thompson, in a murder-suicide at a house in Orion Place, Lower Broughton.

The pair had recently broken up, and Thompson, who was devastated by the split, shot Kally (reportedly twice with a sawn-off shotgun) during an argument before turning the gun on himself.

Kally, a popular and hardworking pupil at Albion High School who was sitting her GCSEs, was described by her family and teachers as a kind, fun-loving girl with a bright future ahead.

Thompson, a former pupil at the same school who aspired to become a PE teacher, died from his injuries in hospital.

Rest in peace Kally. You will not be forgotten.
