Kriss Donald, a 15-year-old white Scottish boy, was kidnapped and murdered on 15 March 2004 by a gang of five Pakistani men.

The racially motivated abduction was revenge for a nightclub fight the previous night involving Shahid and a white gang; Donald had no connection to it. The gang drove him around for hours (including to Dundee and back), then took him to the Clyde Walkway near Celtic’s training ground, where they stabbed him multiple times (injuring arteries, lung, liver, and kidney), doused him in petrol, and set him on fire while he was still alive.

His killers were convicted as follows: Daanish Zahid (first trial, 2004) received life with a 17-year minimum for racially motivated murder; Zahid Mohammed (accomplice) got 5 years for abduction and testified against the others.

After three of the group fled to Pakistan and were extradited, Imran Shahid, Zeeshan Shahid, and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq were convicted in 2006 of racially motivated murder and abduction.

Shahid, Shahid, and Mushtaq received life sentences with minimum terms of 25, 23, and 22 years respectively.

This was Scotland’s first conviction for racially motivated murder.

Rest in peace Kriss. You will not be forgotten.
