Leighann Duffy

Leighann Duffy was a 26-year-old mother from Walthamstow who was murdered in her own home in a brutal attack carried out in the presence of her six-year-old daughter.

Leighann was attacked with a hammer and knife by Lloyd Byfield, a 48-year-old Jamaican national and drug dealer who had forced his way into her flat. Byfield pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 26 and a half years and the judge noted that he may never be released.

Her sister said “The family are calling for a crackdown on foreign criminals. There should be continuous reviews and those who need to be deported must be deported”.

She struggles to believe her sister may have had a relationship with Byfield because she says Leighann had been with her partner David since 2009.

Rest in peace Leighann. You will not be forgotten.
