Leslie Rhodes

Leslie Rhodes, a 75-year-old retired window cleaner from Clapham, south London, was one of five people killed in the Westminster Bridge terror attack on 22 March 2017.

While heading to a hospital appointment for his eyes, he was among the pedestrians deliberately struck by Khalid Masood (born Adrian Russell Ajao), who drove a rented Hyundai SUV at high speed across the bridge, injuring dozens. Rhodes suffered severe injuries, was taken to King’s College Hospital, and died the next day after life support was withdrawn.

Masood, a 52-year-old British-born convert to Islam with a long criminal history but no direct prior terrorism links (though he had been investigated), continued into the Palace of Westminster grounds, where he fatally stabbed PC Keith Palmer before being shot dead by armed police. ISIS claimed responsibility, though no evidence showed direct operational ties.

No one else was prosecuted for the attack itself, as Masood acted alone and was killed at the scene.

Leslie’s funeral in May 2017 was a quiet service where he was remembered as a kind, private gentleman who loved cricket, Queen, and Elvis.

Rest in peace Leslie. You will not be forgotten.
