Martin Dinnegan, a 14-year-old schoolboy from Holloway, north London, was murdered on 26 June 2007 in a senseless knife attack sparked by a gang exchanging “dirty looks” on a bus.

After two confrontations between rival groups of youths, Martin was chased, fell to the ground, and stabbed four times in the back by Joseph Chin. Chin was convicted of murder at the Old Bailey and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 12 years in August 2008.

Another youth, Kevron Williams, was jailed for four years for attempting to cause grievous bodily harm after leading the chase. The judge described the vengeful attack as completely out of proportion to the trivial row.

Martin’s family spoke of their indescribable pain, saying a piece of their heart had been taken.

Rest in peace Martin. You will not be forgotten.
