Nicholas Pearton was a 16-year-old schoolboy from Sydenham whose life was tragically taken in May 2011. He is deeply mourned by his family and friends and is remembered as a much-loved young man with his whole future ahead of him. His death devastated his family and shocked the local community.

He was murdered on 25 May 2011 after being chased through Home Park in Sydenham by a gang of youths armed with knives and other weapons. Nicholas was stabbed through the heart after being hunted down in broad daylight and died shortly afterwards.

Seven youths were convicted in connection with his murder. Terell Clement (18) was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 12 years. Lamarr Gordon (17) and another 17-year-old were also convicted of murder and received life sentences.

The remaining teenagers — including Claude Gaha(17), Demar Brown (16), and Edward Conteh (16/17) — were convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to between 7 and 10 years’ detention.

The judge described the group attack as sickening and cowardly.

Rest in peace Nicholas. You will not be forgotten.
