PC Keith Blakelock was a police officer murdered on 6th October 1985 during riots on the Broadwater Farm Estate in Tottenham. He suffered over forty injuries, including a knife left in his neck.
Three men, known as the “The Tottenham Three”: Winston Silcott, a man of Montserratian descent, Mark Braithwaite, a man of West Indian descent and Engin Raghip, a man of Turkish Cypriot descent, were convicted of his murder in 1987, but their convictions were overturned in 1991.
Nobody has ever been successfully convicted of his murder.
His death devastated those closest to him and he continues to be remembered as a much-loved brave and dedicated officer who died in service of his community.
