Shaun Woodburn was a 24-year-old semi-professional footballer from Southampton whose life was tragically taken in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2017.
He was a talented and well-liked young man, devoted to his sport and deeply valued by his family, friends and football community.
He was murdered on 1 January 2017 in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, after being set upon during a night out with friends.
He suffered a fatal stab wound during the attack. The offender, Mark Bruce, was later convicted of culpable homicide and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Rest in peace Shaun. You will not be forgotten.
