Wayne Broadhurst

Wayne Broadhurst was 49 years old when he was killed in October 2025 by Safi Dawood, a 23-year-old Afghan national who arrived in the UK in 2020.

He was just walking his dog when he was attacked and died at the scene after suffering multiple stab wounds.

Dawood, a 23-year-old Afghan migrant who entered the UK in a lorry in 2020 and was granted asylum in 2022.

Dawood pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court to stabbing landlord Shahzad Farrukh (causing grievous bodily harm with intent) and a 14-year-old boy (causing actual bodily harm), plus possessing an offensive weapon during the same incident; he did not plead to the murder charge or two alternative attempted murder counts.

However, he has not entered a plea on the murder charge for Wayne Broadhurst (and pleaded not guilty to the alternative attempted murder counts). A case management hearing took place on 2 June, and the full trial on the murder and remaining charges is scheduled to start on 13 July 2026.

There are no reports of any conviction or sentencing for the murder so far.
