Victoria Agoglia
1988 – 2003
Manchester
Perpetrator
Victoria Agoglia was a 15-year-old girl who died in Manchester in September 2003 after being injected with heroin.
She had been systematically groomed, trafficked, and repeatedly raped over many months by groups of older men (often in exchange for drugs or cash), running away from care dozens of times while police and social services ignored her written disclosures of the abuse.
In relation to her death, the only person ever convicted was Mohammed Yaqoob: he was cleared of manslaughter at trial in 2004 but pleaded guilty to two counts of administering a noxious substance (heroin) and was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.
No one has ever been convicted of manslaughter, murder, rape, or grooming offences directly linked to Victoria’s exploitation and death, despite later police operations identifying dozens of suspects and making arrests.
Rest in peace Victoria. You will not be forgotten.
