David Metcalf, aged 68 and his wife Dorothy Metcalf, aged 65, were a devoted couple from Leeds whose lives were tragically taken together on New Year’s Day 2012. They are remembered by their family as loving partners who had spent their lives side by side and were deeply cherished by all who knew them.
They were killed on 1 January 2012 when a drink-driver, travelling at high speed collided with their car on the A647 Stanningley bypass near Leeds. The force of the crash caused catastrophic injuries and both died as a result of the collision.
Eduard Mereohra, a Moldovan who was in the UK illegally, admitted two counts of causing death by dangerous driving. Their deaths left their family devastated.
