Stuart Grant
1972 – 2005
Maida Vale, West London
Stuart Grant, a 33-year-old father from Kilburn in north London, was murdered on the night of 13–14 December 2005 in Maida Vale, west London.
After a disagreement with Omar Tracey at a Harrow Road takeaway, Grant was chased along Shirland Road by a gang of three men. They caught him, two held his arms behind his back while the third stabbed him repeatedly in the chest. Wounded, Grant staggered to nearby police officers who gave him first aid, but he died shortly afterwards in hospital.
The three attackers — Omar Tracey, James Herman, and James’s younger brother Cameron Herman — were arrested, tried at the Old Bailey, and all convicted of murder.
Tracey and James Herman were each sentenced to 15 years (as the minimum term on a life sentence), with Cameron Herman receiving a similar term. The killing was described as a revenge attack following the earlier row.
Rest in peace Stuart. You will not be forgotten.
