Thomas Scott

Thomas Scott, a 34-year-old antiques dealer from Newark, Nottinghamshire, was killed on 23 October 2002 after being attacked outside Kentish Town Tube station in north London.

While visiting his half-brother Nicholas and missing the last train home, the pair got off at the wrong station and became involved in a scuffle with a gang of youths led by Mohamed Ahmed, 20, from Kentish Town. During the rolling fight along Kentish Town Road, Thomas was punched in the head with a knuckle-duster, fracturing his skull, and struck with a bread crate. He was left unconscious on the pavement, never regained consciousness and died after his life support was switched off.

Mohamed Ahmed and three other youths (aged 16–17) were later cleared of murder and manslaughter, but convicted of violent disorder at the Old Bailey, with Ahmed receiving two years in a young offenders’ institution and the others 18-month detention orders.

He is remembered with great love and sadness by his family and all who knew him.
