Tommy Blackmore was just 20 years old when he was fatally struck by a single punch in London in 2015.
A popular charity fundraiser who had raised more than £32,000 for Cancer Research UK, a London Underground track fitter and lifelong Millwall fan, he is remembered with pride and great love by his family as a kind, loving and fiercely loyal son, brother, uncle and friend who was always ready to help others.
He had stepped in to try to break up a fight outside the Mono Lounge nightclub near Tower Bridge after an argument flared between two women in the early hours of 13 June 2015.
As he stood peacemaking in Queen Elizabeth Street, Bermondsey, Lloyd Smythe, a 29-year-old convicted drug dealer from the Tabard Gardens Estate in the same area, walked straight up and delivered an unprovoked “boxing jab” to the side of Tommy’s head.
He collapsed immediately, suffered a brain haemorrhage and died in hospital a short time later. Smythe later pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the Old Bailey and was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison.
